Prescribing Changes

pills_and_cardiogramThere is extreme pressure from the Department of Health upon all GPs to reduce prescribing costs.

Items such as Skin Moisturising Creams, Bath Oils and Shampoos will not be prescribed unless there is a diagnosis of eczema or psoriasis.

Please see below a list of items which will no longer be issued. We hope you will understand the reasons for these measures in the current time of financial pressure.

Drugs no longer being prescribed :

  • Elastic Stockings
  • Branded Vitamins
  • Toothpaste
  • Mouthwashes
  • Evening Primrose Oil
  • Cod Liver Oil
  • Shampoo
  • Bath Oil
  • Skin moisturizing creams

We will also be making the following changes :

Sudocrem > we will issue Zinc and Castor Oil ointment

Gluten free products will be reduced and some items not prescribed
