A number of the practice staff have been required to isolate. This has resulted in less staff in clinical and administrative areas. If a GP is isolating they will still be able to work remotely but this will inevitably mean less feet on the ground for face-to-face appointments.

Please consider this when ringing through to the surgery as it may take longer for phone calls, appointments, prescriptions and other administrative duties to be dealt with.

The disruption is likely to continue over the next few months whilst the Omicron variant is in such prevalence in the community.

Please be patient and mindful that the remaining staff are trying their very best to keep services running as close to normal for you.

Thank you.

The GPs of Drumragh Family Practice are committed to providing care throughout the current Coronavirus threat. It remains impossible to reintroduce routine face to face appointments due to the ongoing risks of close contact.

All requests for an appointment will receive an initial telephone consultation with a GP. During this telephone consultation, the GP will make a decision as to whether you need to be seen face to face, and an appointment offered with the most appropriate clinician on the same day. Alternatively, you will be given advice over the phone on how to treat your illness, which may include a prescription for medication, or investigations being arranged. On certain occasions it may be possible to manage your condition with use of a photograph sent to the practice, or via a video telephone call.

There is significant demand on appointments currently and there is limited capacity for routine medical complaints and in such cases patients are advised to call soon after 8.30am to secure a telephone triage appointment.

Please note that online appointments cannot be made due to the current situation.

A facemask/covering must be worn at all times when attending the surgery.

Routine Treatment Room investigations also require triage and can take longer to arrange due the complications of wearing Personal Protective Equipment, the need for social distancing and regular cleaning. Patients with wounds please phone 028 8283 5525.

Please take into consideration that there may be a 3-4 week wait for a routine appointment in the Treatment Room when booking an appointment.

If you need advice about a blood test then continue to contact the GP practice in the normal way.

We would ask that all patients nominate a preferred Pharmacy that can be kept on record for any medications which are issued. This will remove the need for patients to attend to collect prescriptions, and thus cut down on any risk of infection. We would strongly encourage all patients to sign up for our online system for reordering their repeat medications, please contact reception with an email address and we will register you for this service.

These measures have been employed to keep the public safe during this very challenging time; however it should be noted that the surgery is NOT closed and the Doctors are seeing patients face to face when it is required.

 Thank you for your co-operation.

Drumragh Family Practice is a training practice for GP Registrars and Medical Students.

All our staff receive induction and ongoing training in providing a competent and efficient service for our patients. You will be dealt with efficiently and politely and we ask all patients and their representatives to be courteous to our staff at all times. Unfortunately delays can occur, please do not blame the Receptionist.
